How do I know when I’m ready for PR?
1) Is your brand media ready? You should be clear on your mission and values with high quality assets ready to be shared with editors and producers. You should know who your audience is and be ready to communicate all of that clearly.
2) Are you prepared to make the financial investment?
3) Can you handle increased traffic? With brand visibility comes demand. Are you prepared to meet that demand in either product or time (speaking/press interviews etc.)?
Why are your rates so expensive?
When you’re hiring a publicist, you are paying for their time, not for a media placement. Paid features are an advertisement. To give an example, a full-page ad in Forbes is $65,000. A featured article in Forbes however will only cost you the time of the publicist, which includes everything from researching the opportunity, creating and compiling creative assets, putting together a press kit or materials, story ideation, sending samples, pitching, securing, follow-up, interview coordination, reporting, and so much more. (Yes, we are responsible for all of that for multiple clients at a time!) That is an investment at a fraction of the price!
Can you guarantee press?
Any publicist with integrity would never guarantee press coverage. However, the important thing to note is that while editorial coverage is never a guarantee, its impact yields results for your brand to have credibility while putting you in front of your target audience.
